Listing Pattern Research

A private, read-only research tool I built for my own use. It collects public marketplace listing data and compares the highest-demand listings in a sample against the rest of it, so I can see how products in a category are actually structured before I design another one.

On Etsy it reads public data through the Open API v3 — active listing search, listing detail with shop associations, and public listing reviews.

How it handles data

• Read-only. It never writes to, or acts on, any marketplace account.
• Public data only. No private member data, and no OAuth scopes are requested.
• Single user — me. Nothing is exposed as a service to anyone else.
• Responses are stored locally and content-addressed, so repeat runs re-use what was already fetched instead of re-requesting it.
• Collected data is never redistributed, resold, or republished.
• Low volume: a few hundred requests per research run, well inside rate limits.
